Never Let Your Love Of Candles Cause A House Fire

Are you like the thousands of other people who love candles? Are you someone one that likes the scents of the new candles? Maybe you are one of the many that buys these candles for both reasons. The candles of today are made in a lot of different shapes and sizes and this was done to make them more decorative and once again useful all of the time because they make the home smell good. You need to be extra careful when you have them burning because it is an open flame and can be dangerous. You will need to make sure that they are totally out before you leave a room, go to bed, and have them in a safe place if children are in the room.

We are not saying that children are always bad around candles, but they are just snoopy and some of them are just accident prone. All it would take is for this candle to be knocked over and you will end up with a fire beside the burning wick of the candle. We all know that you use these candles for several different things. You use them when the lights go out, to help set the mood for romance and provide ambiance, and then you might use them for decorative purposes like a center piece on your holiday table. What ever the reason for these candles, you will always need to use safety measures to prevent accidental house fires.

When you buy candles for the scents alone, you should know that when they get really old, the scents can fade. Most of them smell really pretty in the beginning, but when you go to burn a really old one, their scent might not smell as good as it once did. Once you light these candles and they smell bad, the pretty smell is gone for good. If you do not like this candle anymore then you might as well throw it out and buy another. If you happen to buy them for their smells, you can set them in each of the rooms in your home to make this house smell good without lighting them. If you put one in any of the rooms and you have some children make sure that these candles are up high enough so that they can not lite them.

Always make sure the dish you have a lit candle in is not flammable. In other words never use one on a paper plate or anything plastic. Keep them on a non- flammable dish made of glass or metal to catch the wax if the candle is not in a jar. Keep them well away from walls and furniture. These are just common sense tips that will allow you to have the benefits of sweet smelling candles, without the risk of causing a house fire.
