Networking Advice For Your Office Christmas Party

By:

All you have to see is the importance of networking and how to do it.

Why network?
Social gatherings, such as the business Christmas party, is the ideal way to meet new people who may have an impact on your life. Simply put, you just never know who you may end up with in the queue for food, and who they might know in turn! it's an ideal opportunity to get your face acknowledged, particularly if you're new to the business or work in a small department of a much bigger business. Networking is your opportunity to shine and an opportunity to gain or see something new.

Who's on the guest list?
Before the day of the Christmas party find out who is going to be there. Knowing who is on the guest list will permit you to plan who you wish to talk to and network with. If potential clients are going to be there arrange to meet up with them most significantly go in with a strategy so you make time to network with all the right people.

Make a great impression
To be a notable networker you have to show yourself off to the best advantage. Dress well for the occasion, do not drink too much, retain control at all times and listen more than you talk. While its fundamental to hold a conversation, you have to let people know you're a great listener with a professional attitude. Keep eye contact, do not be too loud and make sure you illustrate an interest in what people are saying. Attempt and remember names and make sure the people you chat with know your name otherwise your networking is unlikely to bear fruit.

Stand tall
It's not just about great posture. Standing up straight will help you to act in a confident way, even if nerves get the better of you! Meeting people for the first time is probably to be awkward and daunting for most people, so the person who hides their nerves will be probably to command respect from those around and hopefully make a lasting impression.

Follow up the contacts you have met
If this year's Christmas party has gone to plan then you should have made loads of new contacts. If people you meet have given you their contact facts then they certainly will not be stunned to hear from you again so email or call them as soon as you can. Do not be put off if you have to re introduce yourself or jog several memories, just remind them of what you conversed about and if they have promised you advice or help be grateful.

Remember that every contact made will probably know someone else you'll meet in the future so be graceful and respectful, you never know where it might lead you!
