BPO is a company that provides services for the company that needs to cut down costs on manpower and other services. These companies hire a BPO to manage their customers and to do some important tasks. These services include customer assistance, web design, technical support and some other back office tasks. BPO offers a lot of benefits for the company. Saving costs is just one of its many benefits. Getting their needs from other countries in a lower cost can be very helpful for any company.

Since the company is receiving so many advantages from the people working for them, they also compensate it with many benefits. These benefits are medical insurance, dental insurance, incentives, bonuses, commissions and more. BPO employees also receive salary, which is higher than their usual day rate. These are the reasons why BPO is making its way to be one of the most in demand industry in the Third world nations like India as well as the Philippines.

However, there are also a lot of disadvantages in working for a BPO. Since most BPO is hired by a different country, these people differ on many things. The need to adapt and adjust with each other's differences is required. One good example is the time difference. The usual time difference is from 10 hours to 14 hours. Most of the BPO employees are required to have a graveyard shift. It can be hazardous to health due to the fact that some of our organs only take its rest at night. Even if the employee had a complete rest in the morning, sleeping at night is much better.

It's not only a health hazard but the employee has to take a chance on the dangers of having to go out and work at night. Since BPO employees are known to receive good salary, they are prone to robbery and most likely to be attacked by someone. The nighttime is the most dangerous time to be outside because policeman or other civilians who can help are just a few.

Another thing is the way some of the customers who call the customer service hotline. Some tend to make an abusive judgment and foul language on the agent because of many reasons such as frustrations with the product or personal reason. The employee cannot do anything but take in all of the things the customer is saying and try to resolve the issue. Not all of the calls are abusive but some of it is still something that you wouldn't want to look forward to. Even if working at a BPO company has its downsides at the end of the day the benefits can still be worth it.
