Lulabelle had always had dogs. Some of her earliest memories were of the collies that her parents kept to help run the cows around the farm where she grew up. She lived in town now, but her love for dogs had not decreased and so she kept them. She had all different shapes and sizes, some that would bite the Stanley Home Products man when he came to visit and others that would try to lick him until he was covered. She had one little sickly looking pup that was as ugly as a braying mule and didnt have enough hair to cover the tip of a pencil. The dog also needed a dry skin remedy because it was constantly chafing in the sun and arid climate of her New Mexico home.

The Stanley Home Products man always came around in the early spring and late fall and sold Lulabelle all that she would need to clean her house and herself. He was a welcome visitor because she had usually started having to use lye soap bye then and that irritated her skin to no end. She said to him when he came that she needed to do something for the little dog. The man was no vet, but he could see that the animal was suffering. He asked if it had some sort of mange that kept it so bald. She realized that Stanley Home Products probably didnt have many Chinese hairless around their head quarters so she told him about the breed and asked if he had any kind of a dry skin remedy for the poor unfortunate pup.

He looked through his bag of tricks and came up with a jar that promised to be a dry skin remedy whether the persons issue was sun or arid clime. She decided that since she had both issues that the stuff would probably be doubly effective. She dosed the little animal with the dry skin remedy, after she had paid for it of course, and then sat back to watch how he responded.

Well, the hair never grew to where anyone, especially the Stanley Home Products man, would say that it was a handsome animal, but it did have some protection from the sun and its skin was more supple. He also seemed to be happier with his lot after the skin cream was used. He would strut amongst the other animals like a king, and show off his clear, smooth coat.
