Ncaa Football Tickets - Pac-10 Season Preview

By: Brent Warnken

The football season is coming up fast and it's time to take stock of the various power conferences. What is in store for the Pac-10? Will the University of Southern California Trojans take the cake once again, or will another team- perhaps the Cal Bears- be able to wrestle control of the conference away from USC? The Trojans have been far and away the top dog in the Pac-10 since 2001, and they are ranked highly coming into the season. Let's take a look at a few of the best teams from this mighty league of college football teams.

USC - The Trojans still enter the season as the overwhelmingly decided No. 1 team in the Pac-10. So why, then are so many preseaosn articles obsessed with the idea that this might be a down year for Pete Carroll's troops? Many analysts come at the Pac-10 with the idea that this might be the year that the mighty crumble. In fact, this very article asked that question right of the bat. The Trojans are ranked No. 4 in the Associated Press Preseason Poll and No. 4 in the USA Today poll. Find any respectable college football poll, and you'll see that they're in the top five, a clear national title contender.

However, the nay-sayers will nay-say that the Trojans lost their starting QB from last season, Mark Sanchez. Most people have not heard much about their starter this year, projected to be Aaron Corp. The defense lost plenty of people from the linebacker crew. If you want to know if USC has what it takes to win another Pac-10 regular season title, get NCAA football tickets to see the USC-Oregon game on November 16. It's a good, mid-season, away-game test for the Trojans.

Cal - The team everyone mentions as the most likely dethroner of the Trojans is California, a team that went 6-3 last year, ending on a three-game winning streak, and wound up at the No. 12 position in the 2009 AP Preseason Top 25 Poll. The key ingredient to a Cal takeover of the conference will be RB Jahvid Best, who started to get hot at the tail end of the season in 2008.

Oregon - The Ducks look strong, and the return many key contributors from last season's 7-2 team, which finished runner-up in the conference standings. Many people think that Jeremiah Masoli is the best QB in the Pac-10, and Oregon is currently ranked No. 16 in the AP Poll.

Oregon State - Oregon State deserves mention on the list of the top Pac-10 teams. The Beavers finished 7-2 last year, and, most importantly, they were the only team to beat USC (they beat the then-No. 1-ranked Trojans 27-21 in Corvallis, Oregon). Can they do it again on USC's home turf on October 24?

The Pac-10 should be one of the best college football conferences in the nation this season- no surprise there. But who will come out on top? You'll have to get tickets to find out. Luckily, you can go online to get you into the game even if it's sold out ahead of time.
