The force of the water can knock down many things that lie in its path, even sturdy things that are hard to move. The force can be so strong that just a few inches can sometimes move cars, tear down things, or take someone or something with the current of the water.

Many people have died in floods due to being sucked under the water. Others have gotten injured or have suffered from it in other ways. Homes have been torn down due to the flood ripping the foundation or even the ground out from under it. Mud slides have been caused due to a lot of dirt and water mixing together. These mud slides are very dangerous and can happen as quickly and unexpectedly as a flood. Floods and mudslides can come under the doors, into the basements, break through windows, and any other places there is a crack it can get into. Natural disaster floods can carry many things like in them like chemicals, sewage, and all types of trash and other debris.

This kind of flood water is referred to as black water because it is so filthy, which makes it even more dangerous for you. The power could be out for days, weeks, or even longer depending on how long it takes for the water to recede and how soon the damage can be repaired. Sometimes people have to use boats to get around and cross the water safely. Sometimes people are forced to move out of their homes and even their town until the water is gone and clean up can begin.

You have to watch out for floods no matter where you live. Never think that one can not happen where you live because you could be very wrong. You must have flood insurance whether you think you need it or not. Flood insurance is to protect you so you can get your life back if you are ever involved in a natural disaster. You have to think ahead and do this for your family because any place can have a flood even if the area has never experienced one that anyone can remember.
