Myspace: How To Increase Your Music Plays

The creators of MySpace have included a number of features that make promoting your bands music online very easy. These features include simple automated upload tools, embedded media players and a messaging system using bulletins and status updates to rapidly deploy messages to your complete social network.

Promoting your music on MySpace is easy. Simply develop a network of fans by creating a profile for your band. Then, be an active member of your online community. Don't just sit back and wait for fans to find you and your music. Instead go out and put your music in front of them. Add people to your friends list on MySpace. Send picture comments or video comments including video of your bands performances.

Promote your band online and in the real world. Have business cards printed with your Myspace profile or band website on them and put one in the hands of every person you meet. Go on Twitter and tweet your heart out about every new song you add to your MySpace music player. Ask people for their opinion on your music in relevant chat rooms, forums or bulletin boards and link the question to your MySpace profile. Then respond to the comments so they know you are listening.

Make it easy for people to be your friend on MySpace by providing some substance to your profile. Sure the music is the important thing but if that is the only thing on your profile, you probably won't see a lot of visitors. Include real content, including biographical information about your band or dates and times for your upcoming gigs. Profiles with pictures have been proven to receive more responses on social networking sites and MySpace is no different. By adding a picture of your band or even a simple avatar to your MySpace profile picture, you greatly increase your chances of being picked out of the search results thus bringing hundreds of possible fans flooding into your profile page to hear your music.
