One thing that you absolutely never want to hear from your girlfriend is, that she wants to see other people. No matter how hard she tries to explain her reasons, the writing on the wall is crystal clear. Her wanting to see other people is the signal that the relationship is over. No matter how many times you try to examine her real meaning behind it, it's pretty much what it is. Now, you might be thinking that this means that you now need to come to the realization that she is no longer going to be a part of your life. And that may be true, but it's not ALWAYS true.

What do you do when your girlfriend says that she wants to see other people?

For starters, you need to just accept it for now. Begging her to reconsider usually isn't going to do a thing to put her back in your corner, and it can make it harder for you to try to win her back later on if that is what you want to do. This is a moment to show your girlfriend that you are mature enough to handle it, and if it makes you feel any better, you can go and punch the wall when you get home or you can sit around and vent later on with your buddies.

Let her see what else is out there.

Don't be the guy who harasses her or tries to pop up whenever and wherever just to see her. Do that and instead of becoming someone that she still thinks fondly of, she will just think of you as being the guy who won't give up. That's not a good thing. For every 'story' about a guy like that winning back his ex girlfriend, there are dozens more that do not end well at all.

Does it mean that it's OVER for good?

That all depends. See, if you handle yourself well in this situation, there is a good chance that you can get her to change her mind and decide that the only guy she really wants to date is you. That's why it is so important to handle things in a mature way, so that you don't burn down the bridge and not have a way to get back with her later on. Hey, even if you don't end up back with her at some point, what's in it for you to have any bad blood between you and her?

Don't deny yourself the pleasure of dating other people yourself.

I've seen a lot of guys get stuck on the idea that they want to win back their girlfriend and think that the way to do this is to just sit around and wait for her to come back around. Don't do this. Come on, you have the opportunity to see what else is out there, to see if your girlfriend really is as great as you think she is, and if she sees that you are dating other women AND handling things maturely... it only works as a plus on your behalf.
