These activities normally involve height, an extreme level of physical strength, speed and special gears, equipments and stunts. These activities are never for the frail hearted ones. Although some perceived extreme sports as the sports that injures the most people, it is not always the case considering the fact that it is road cycling with the most number of injuries, yet cycling is not an extreme sport.

There are extreme sports that can be done on land, in water, and in the air.

Extreme sports on Land include high wire, motocross and caving. High wire or sometimes called as funambulism is called an art, it is referred to as the art and practice of walking on a thin rope or wire at a certain height. Usually the height is pretty high. For high wires, the ropes or wires used usually are set up at at least 20 feet off the ground. What makes motocross extreme is the fact that they are done off the road. Moto crossers usually wont have the exact idea of how to go around the circuit considering that the tracks usually have ditches and mud. A racer should always be careful when participating in this race.

Extreme water sports include the following: free-diving, wakeboarding and barefoot water skiing. Free-diving has been included in the sense that it requires one who practices it to hold their breath underwater when diving. Wakeboarding is a pretty complex sport to learn. It needs one to learn some water skiing, surfing, and snowboarding techniques. The one who does this is usually called a rider. Riders are usually towed by a motorboat, whose speed normally ranges from 17 to 24 miles per hour. The speed should depend on these factors though; the riders weight, board size, and board size. Barefoot water skiing is just like skiing minus the water skis.

Air sports that are included in the extreme sports category include powered paragliding, and bungee jumping. Basically most flying sports are considered extreme. Paramotor enables the pilot to fly miles off the ground, and that alone is dangerous. It needs practice to master powered paragliding. It is nice to know though that the paragliding industry is doing its best to improve the paramotor.

Paragliding has been gaining much attention due to the fact that it enables man do his dream, the dream of flying up in the air. Thus even with the dangers, man still wants to do this, and what the paragliding industry could do is constantly improve on their equipments.
