Muscles And Obesity - Do You Stay Slim No Matter What You Eat Or Do?

By:

There could be several reasons which dictate why some people stay slim no matter what they do and why some people stay overweight no matter what they do. One of the reasons could be the different body enzymes in different people. Some people have body enzymes that enable them to stay slim and trim and others have body enzymes that force them to stay overweight.

For example, consider the body enzyme, MGAT2. This body enzyme determines the extent of fat content that a particular person's body must store. This enzyme is the enzyme in fact, which determines if all that dietary fat in a person's body will be utilized for conversion to spontaneous energy burn off or if such dietary fat will get used for the purpose of storage as fat, around the waist region of a person.

It is therefore very important that detailed studies be carried out on such enzymes to determine their exact functions and effects, so that the results of such studies may be utilized for the purpose of determining how these enzymes can be manipulated or modulated for protection against the dreaded issues of obesity, heart attack and diabetes.

Rodents, such as mice whose bodily processes, constituents and internal structure are analogous to those of  humans, have been studied in the laboratory to determine what causes some mice to stay thin, while others to gain weight. According to a study conducted on one such group of mice in the labs, those mice that lacked the gene of MGAT2 in them, seemed to be at an advantage, as their bodies did not reflect the tendency to store fat or gain weight, in spite of living on a very high fat diet.

Another factor that is responsible for the accumulation of fats or the burning thereof, is the genetic composition of different people, as well as their surrounding environment. According to a study on the same, it has been concluded that all individuals have a naturally determined body weight, and the body always a resists a change in this weight. The body struggles to maintain this naturally determined body weight of each individual.

The same study however also concludes that around half of the body weight of a person, is determined by the genetic composition of that person, whereas the other half of a person's body weight may be determined by various environmental factors applicable to that person.

Another gene that is responsible for determining the body weight of person is the presence or absence of the FTO gene. It is concluded that all humans who possess a certain variant of this gene, seem to be weighing more than those who don't. This gene is also responsible for a person's level of appetite. So a person who does not possess this gene will find it easy to stay away from food or even reject food when provided with it.
