Multinational purchasing in global sourcing

By: DYLAN SUN

Talking about global sourcing, one must realize that China reins in as one of the biggest B2B market of the world feeding not just consumer products round the globe but capital goods and services through supply chains such as multinational purchasing. The present decade has seen an increase of 55% in the value of B2B market turnouts especially for those goods and services that are exempted from quota regime, driving home the point that multinational purchasing or global sourcing, as a part of alternate procurement policy, wasn't a bubble.

Grossly, B2B differs from B2C given the nature of transactions which always goes on between two businesses making it complex given the fact that buying process has to pass through preset norms and multiple decision makers.

Global sourcing & Multinational purchasing companies will do good to know this beforehand while global sourcing with them. Multinational purchasing (global sourcing) companies would like to exercise their option to choose online suppliers by testing different online suppliers and scenarios, by switching base curve or brand before settling down. Multinational purchasing companies must bear in mind that not many suppliers online are complying with the law on the sale and supply in global sourcing although this is not a universal phenomenon. Aware of this and the competition factor, suppliers online are not leaving a stone unturned to get their share of the market.

One big difference between an online market and conventional one is the way the sales happen; the lack of conventional type of contact, hard decision making process on the part of buyers, let alone the predicament of having to pay online and then waiting for what seems like endless time for the goods to arrive. However, this is equally advantageous in many ways for both the parties involved, including buyers, sellers, global sourcing and multinational purchasing firms etc.
