Multimedia filters or sometimes called multi layers filters have proven design concept; the coarse media layers which are located in the top of the tank trap large particles, and successively smaller particles are captured in the finer layers of media deeper in the bed. This leads to a good result, highly efficient filtering since removal takes place throughout the entire bed. Multi-Media depth filters in general remove particulates of 10 microns in size or more. All media included in our filters are carefully selected according to particle size, so the media retains its stratification during backwash and rinse. Automatic backwashing mechanism removes the trapped contaminants within the filter bed and washes them out to the drain.

Multi-media water filter system represents a significant improvement over single-media filters. Multi-media filtration permits delivery of high quality filtered water at much faster flow rates, as compared to a conventional sand filter.
In a conventional sand filter, lighter and finer sand particles are found at the top of the filter bed, and coarser, heavier sand particles remain at the bottom after backwashing. Filtration takes place in the top few inches of the filter bed.
A multi-media filter is backwashed in the same manner as a sand filter, using reverse or upward flow of water through the filter bed. The various layers of media retain their stratification because each material has a different density.
