Moving The Ball On The Ground In Madden 10

By:

In real life, the normal methodology is run the ball. In Madden, its not quite as vital, but being able to move the football will make sure the D cant lock in on your passing attack. Taking advantage of when the defense is in alignments that dont work towards defending the running game is big to keeping the defense off their game and being a great offensive attack. There are a selection of strategies to ensure your running success in Madden NFL 10.

Be aware your matchups. Know which of your o-linemen are good and not, and know what defensive players are effective and not. This should give you an idea where you should be running the ball, and where you should not.  This doesnt mean move ALL the time to these sections, as the D will be knowledgable, but it should give you a starting point for where you run focus should be.

Number the men in the box. Take note any strange changes you defense utilizes. If they move out a third linebacker directly over the WR, they will have a weakness where that linebacker left. If their safeties are too out there and you have a excellent line and a FB, you should be able to move the ball effectively. On the line, if theyre stuffing the line of scrimmage with their safeties, be worried and play action and pass to get them out of this set.

Dont run draws/counters. These plays generally do not work in Madden and still do not. They each will work every so often, but their inconsistency is not something you want to rely on in a close match of Madden. Stick the more standard move-ahead runs, halfback dives, and Off-Tackles that will often give you large gains.

Have a good RB! Using a good running back like Adrian Peterson or Darren Sproles can make up for weak choices and help you miss tackles where zero was there. Use your hit stick every time to avoid tackles, but be cognizant, as trying to do this too frequently will leave you at the whim fumbles.
