Morzine An Ideal Alpine Retreat

By:

If you looking for a great range of ski chalets, Morzine, in France, is worth seriously considering. Morzine has an alpine charm and character that is, sadly, not always commonplace in certain alpine ski resorts.

The town is in France, though close to the Swiss border, and the main gateway airport of Geneva. The main town itself sits in an extremely attractive valley and also has a very appealing and mature centre. It's fairly easily reached, with the local village of Thonon-Les-Bains being on the rail network and from there, a bus service will take you to Morzine. Once you arrive, you certainly won't be stuck for something to do!

The skiing

This is a very large ski resort and alpine area with literally hundreds of miles of slopes and almost limitless possibilities to go off-piste. If you are an accomplished skier, you'll find plenty of red and black runs but if your skills are more modest you can rest assured that there are a large number of nursery and blue slopes. Today's modern alpine ski resorts rarely cater only for skiers and there is a huge variety of other winter sports you can participate in, including snowboarding, snowshoe hiking, skating, paragliding and a whole range of other options.
Okay, just like any other alpine resort, Morzine can't absolutely guarantee snow and skiing opportunities. Having said that, skiing is usually possible each year from late December through to the latter part of April - and the snow record is excellent.

Chalets, Morzine and your enjoyment

Holiday chalets can come close to either making or breaking your holiday. If you have ever been forced, by bad luck or circumstances, to occupy poorer quality ski chalet accommodation, you'll know just how much of a misery it can make of your precious skiing holiday.

The good news is that this resort has a truly excellent selection of ski chalets, running from those that are aimed at the budget-conscious (which nevertheless manage to retain their comfort and charm), and those that sit happily in the category of ' luxury accommodation'.
While for ski chalets, Morzine boasts a wide selection of very high-quality accommodation, nevertheless, it might still pay to be selective about the tour operator or holiday company you use. Companies that have an established and verifiable track record in operating within Morzine and its surrounding area might offer rather less of a gamble in terms of getting the accommodation that's right for you and your party.

Many of the chalets here are fully serviced, which means that cleaning and maintenance is included, plus catering if you choose to use it. If you prefer to eat locally, the town has numerous restaurants where you'll get the chance to taste the superb local alpine cuisine.

If you are the sort of person that enjoys being tucked up in your bed and fast asleep early on in the evening while you're on ski holiday, then you'll find that this is a peaceful location. On the other hand, if you are the sort that enjoys the excitement of the vibrant aprs-ski lifestyle, then you wont be disappointed with the range of clubs and bars available.

So for good skiing, relatively safe weather forecasts and great chalets, Morzine may be worth checking out in a lot more detail.
