Mortimer Beckett And The Secrets Of Spooky Manor Game Review

Mortimer Beckett And The Secrets Of Spooky Manor Game Review

When I first played the Mortimer Beckett and the Lost King, I was very happy with the game. It had amazing images, the settings were equally impressive and all items that are necessary to find were both very significant to the story, and also necessary to solve the puzzles, put something back together, etc. So, obviously, I was looking forward to playing other games of this series.

Where Mortimer Beckett and the Lost King storyline flows and is dynamic, Spooky Manor is just another run of the mill hidden objects: static scenes and objects overload in a single room. The unique twist is that you must collect the individual parts of an object - sometimes three, sometimes four parties - to put it back together. The following items should be placed in hot spots of the current scene or in another room.

It is really not that difficult as the hot spots which are large enough light up when the cursor hovers over them. The only problem here is to determine what object to place in the hot spot, but that really is not too much of a challenge for everyone. Moreover, none of this has anything to do with the game story, except on occasions when a particular object was put back in its right place; a part of the equipment is then shown that is necessary to end the game.

It is easy to see that Spooky Manor came much earlier in the series than the Lost King edition, which is one of the great hidden object games available in $6.99. So, it is perhaps a little unfair to compare these two. But if someone went the same route as I did and played first the Lost King, Spooky Manor is a big disappointment.

All in all, I am not saying that Spooky Manor is a not a nice game per se, but it has nothing in common with the game edition that came later which is the Lost King. I happened to like more The Lost King version than the Spooky Manor.
