More Background Checks For The Aviation Workers

By: janetrogers

When you travel, there may always be a silent prayer in your heart to land on your destination safely. You are surrounded with many strangers so you will never know who you are with. Somehow, you will be at ease if you knew the airline company is conducting a background check for the workers.

In Washington, more than a million of aviation workers will undergo thorough investigation by means of a background check. This background check is done to protect passengers and everyone in the work premise from inside terrorists. It is frightening to know that one of the passengers could be a hijacker.

Remember the incident at World Trade Center way back September 11, 2001? It was destroyed by terrorists linked to Al Qaeda. For sure, no one wants things like that to happen again. Yes, the government is doing everything to run after the attackers but you or the company can do something for the protection of the employees, as well as your passengers.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is also doing the background check for aviation worker. But another background check will be done thoroughly by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). Ellen Howe, TSA Spokesperson said that over 1.2 million airline workers will undergo background check.

The additional thorough investigation sparks as Homeland Security Department revealed about possible attacks from inside terrorists who failed to go through security checkpoints when they were already aboard.

Background checks in TSA are conducted automatically by a computer that compares biographical information about air flight workers. Licensed aviation workers are subject from time to time background check if the Terrorist Screening Centers database is updated. They will use this as their security tool and confidently believe that this can do the job effectively.

This additional background check is for security reasons. Many lives and properties might be lost if airline workers (an applicant or recent worker) wont undergo thorough investigation.
