Mold Damage To Vhs Tapes And What You Can Do About It

Are you like most people that have a collection of their favorite movies, possibly on VHS tape? If you do, then do you watch them a lot or do they sit around collecting dust? Here is one more thing that these movies will collect and that is moisture that can cause mold. This mold is a white film that will settle on these tapes and over time, this mold will ruin the movie and cause this tape to stretch and tear. It will also cause you to have to take your VHS player to someone to have it cleaned, as this mold and dust will go all over the inside of the player. If this happens, you will not be able to clean it with the cleaners that you buy at the store since these only clean the rollers that the tape runs on.

If you have a lot of these VHS movies, you might want to think about having them put on DVD discs as the discs might keep mold from ruining the movie. With the taped movies almost a thing of the past now, you can get someone to take your older taped movies and put them on these new disks. After this job is done, you can keep watching these older movies for years to come. In some cases, you can find these older movies on these disks for less money than it would cost you to have someone to do the job of transferring them to disc. But, if you were to find this mold on a movie you like and it is not on one of these disks, then you will have no choice but to either have the tape transferred to disc or throw the movie away.

As we all know, mold will show up on almost everything in our homes as some of us have found out the hard way. With the economy being as bad as it is, some people are having to let go of their cable or satellite service to save some money. So ,most of these people will start buying movies to watch or will start watching the movies that they already have. If it has been a while since you last watched these movies, so you will want to check them first. Some of this mold might not be showing yet, but if your movie or your machine does not work, then it could be because of the mold.

Having all of these movies can save you some money by not having to go to the theaters and pay money for the movie and all of the things you need to have with it. We keep these movies because we never know when we might want to watch them or need something to watch. In some cases, you might not be able to get cable or satellite service in the first place, so, we go and buy these movies so we have something to watch. Either way, always look over your old VHS movies for this mold.
