Mold Damage - Finding It And Killing It In Your Home Or Car

So, you say you have started smelling a very odd scent in your home and car and you do not know what it could be? It is a kind of sour smell that nearly burns your nostrils to be around. Well, you may want to know that the odor you smell could very well be an effect of water damage, specifically mold. If you think that there is no way your car or home could have mold because you scrub it spotless, you may want to think again. Mold spores are capable of attaching themselves to virtually any surface, and those spores can be extremely difficult to spot. Here are some tips that will help you find the source of that odor, as well as eliminate any other mold in your home or your car.

The first place we will look in is your car. The best way to find that odor, as disgusting as it may sound, is to follow your nose. This does not mean getting your nose right up to the carpet. That would just be stupid and would have very undesirable consequences. Simply sniff until you find where the odor is strongest.

Now, there are several ways there could be mold in your car. For example, if you have spilled soda or some other sticky liquid in your car and had not fully cleaned it up, then mold spores will feed on that area once the soda dries up and makes your upholstery sticky. Another way is if you were to have had the window open during bad weather such as rain. The best way to rid your car of this kind of mold, depending on how extensive the damage is, is to rent a carpet shampooer for your car or take it to a car wash where that kind of service is available.

There are several places in the home that contain mold that you would not normally think to look. Mold can gather up in the cracks of windows. Mold can gather underneath your kitchen and bathroom sinks. Mold can also gather around your bathtub. It can build up on walls in rooms that are humid, such as your basement or bathroom and the kitchen as well. If you have tried using store bought chemical cleaning agents to get rid of the mold, but they are not working, then you may want to consider paying a professional cleaner to get rid of the mold for you.
