If this happens a lot of times this can cause excess moisture to appear rather quickly.

You will need to go find a covering that you can install over your thermostat. This cover will have a lock on it so that just anyone will not be able to change the setting. Keeping the home at one consistent temperature can help reduce forming moisture. Turning down the temperature on your water heater will also help. This will keep the water in the tank from becoming so hot that if a person takes a shower, the moisture will not be such a problem. You might have to install an exhaust fan in the room if you do not have one already. If you have one check to see if it is working and if not get it fixed.

All of these things need to be done as soon as you can have them done. Another place that moisture builds up pretty quickly is in your refrigerator. Every time this appliance is held open the moisture is allowed to start. You need to try not keep the door open no longer than necessary. The moisture in this appliance will happen so fast and before you know it you might end up with mold growth in there also. It can also make the freezer compartment have to work overtime which will result in you having ice build up to appear. This ice will hurt the way the freezer works. The ice can be so thick that you have to shut it down to remove it. Make sure your clothes dryer is properly vented as well because the humid heat that comes from it is a big producer of moisture.

The attic in a home can build up a lot of moisture as well as a basement. There might be moisture producing appliances in your basement, but any moisture in the attic is probably coming from below and it needs proper ventilation to reduce the risk of mold and wood rotting. It can also damage items you might have stored up there just like it can in the basement.
