Moisture Problems Cause Mold And Water Damage

By:

Did you know that your appliances like your dryer and your stove can cause moisture problems in your home? When they are in use they can do this if they are not properly vented. They both will cause moisture differently. A dryer can cause it when there is no hose in the back or the stove it will cause it when something is boiling or cooking. They can cause major damage if there is not ventilation to expel the warm, moist steam they produce. It can cause the walls and ceilings to become damp which can cause mold. It can leave behind stains and can make things peel like paint or wallpaper. They can cause wood surfaces to swell and crack.

A dryer will release lots of heat and that heat will make the room feel like it is a sauna. It can make you feel like you are sweating to death, but really you are not. It can cause everything to sweat for that fact and moisture will be everywhere. If you have clothes hanging up in the laundry room, the heat can make them stay damp and mold can grow on them and can ruin them. It can make the floor very slippery which can cause you to fall down and hurt yourself. Did you know that moisture can cause your dryer to mess up?

It also can cause mold to grow inside the machine. You have to have a hose on the dryer and have it vented to the outside so the heat and moisture can escape your home and will not leave damages behind. When moisture causes damage, it can lower the value of your home when it causes mold or structural issues. The damages can cost a lot depending on how bad it is and how much it has damaged. The cost will vary of course, the more damage there is the more it will cost you. Structural damage caused by moisture can make a home warp in a sense, causing windows or doors to become misaligned and mold will develop and eat away at whatever surfaces it can feed on.

When you are cooking it is good to have a vent over the stove so it can take the steam away. This way the moisture will not attach to any surface in your kitchen. It also helps keep the air clear from any smoke that can come from your cooking. It protects your home from water damage and other things like smoke. Bathrooms and the laundry room also need ventilation because of warm, wet air. Damage can also come from basements, crawlspaces, and attics that are allowed to stay too damp.
