Mohit Suri was born on 11th April 1981. He did his schooling from St. Joseph Convent, Sambalpur. He studied from MMK College of Commerce and Economics in Bandra, Mumbai. Mohit Suri started his career as an assistant director. He made his debut as a director with the film Zeher (2005).

The star cast of this film is Emraan Hashmi, Shamita Shetty, Udita Goswami, Sameer Kochchar, Puneet Vashisht and Ninad Kamat. The film was reputed to be a direct copy of the Hollywood film Out Of Time (2003). The film moderate success is attributed to its musical score.

Zeher (2005) was followed with Mohit next film Kalyug (2005). The star cast of this film is Kunal Khemu, Emraan Hashmi, Smilie Suri, Amrita Singh, Deepal Shaw, Ashutosh Rana and Amitabh Bhattacharjee. This film was a debut for Kunal Khemu as well as for Mohit Suri sister Smilie Suri.

It was a Bollywood action film about the pornographic film industry. It was a success at the box office. This film was produced by Mahesh Bhatt. In 2006, Mohit Suri first release was Woh Lamhe (2006). The film starred Shiney Ahuja, Kangna Ranaut, Shaad Randhawa and Masumi Makhija.

This film did not do well but was critically acclaimed. It is a fictional tale inspired from actress Parveen Babi life, her battle with schizophrenia and her relationship with Mahesh Bhatt. Awarapan (2007) is the story of a man called Shivam played by Emraan Hashmi, who searches for joy but finds pain and loneliness. The film was not successful at the box office. In 2009, Mohit Suri first release was Raaz The Mystery Continues (2009). This film was a box office success.

This film star cast includes Emraan Hashmi, Kangna Ranaut, Adhyayan Suman, Jackie Shroff, Dinesh Lamba, Anupam Shyam, Vicky Ahuja, J Brandon Hill and Sandeep Sikand. It is a horror film. Story wise, it is not a direct sequel to the film Raaz (2002).

The film deals with the issues of the evil within the human psyche and how it manifests itself. It is based on the myths and superstitions that are still widely existent in the contemporary Indian society. The film was not successful at the box office.

Mohit latest film was Crook (2010). The film stars Emraan Hashmi, Neha Sharma, Arjan Bajwa and Kavin Dave. It is produced by Mukesh Butt and is based on racial discrimination. It revolves around a guy who constantly looks for better prospects abroad and wants to go to Australia.

The protagonist takes a stand against some racial issues that the film is based on. There is also a love story angle twisted into the plot. The film was a box office failure. Mohit Suri uncle is director Mahesh Bhatt. Bollywood actor Emraan Hashmi is his cousin. Smilie Suri is Mohit sister. She has appeared in his film Kalyug (2005).

During the shooting of Zeher (2005) he met Bollywood actress Udita Goswami. They started dating soon after. But later they broke up to focus on their careers.
