Modern Designed Modular Buildings

By:

Buildings that consist of modular design and construction can be used to create extra space for existing properties and they also offer a cheaper building solution when compared to many building extensions that work to serve the same requirements.

Modular designed construction allows for very quick assembly and installation of the individual module wall panels that are used to make up the walls of the module building. The easy nature of the installation of this type of building means that both professional and non professionals can complete the installation of these types of buildings without any great difficulty or stress.

In recent years these types of modular structures were often used as providing extra classroom space when schools expanded. These temporary classrooms were used for providing after school care, wood-work classes or for science laboratories.

These pre-fabricated buildings were perfect for use at schools as they were relatively cheap of buy and very easy to install. This meant that quite often school could carry on as normal without one area of the playground being turned into building site during the term time. The last thing members of staff wanted were classes to be disrupted by the sound of drills, hammers and other essential building work but by using temporary, modular structures this wasn't an issue.

One the pre-fabricated structure has been built it is extremely strong and durable and does not easily fall victim to the harsh British weather conditions as other temporary building structures can that are made from other materials. Rain damage is not a problem as many of the structures are pre-treated to protect against damage from the wind, rain, snow and even sun. The modular buildings are also extremely secure as they fitted with the latest security features ,such as alarms and bars that can prevent burglars and other unwanted intruders from entering the premises.

All in all, the temporary building structure costs a lot less than what it would cost to build another classroom and much of the construction of these types of buildings actually takes place off site under supervised conditions in a factory or processing plant, before the panels are taken to site for installation.

Modular buildings have increased in popularity in recent years as private and commercial users look at ways of reducing ever rising construction costs. However, the popularity of modular structures isn't really a new thing. For well over 60 years similar structures have been providing housing, accommodation and commercial premises in different locations throughout the country.

Although today's modular buildings might be much improved, in terms of design, on the older style temporary structures the principal is still very much the same.

Temporary structures were first used to provide cheap, yet quality accommodation during the great boom times, after the Second World War. During these times there was a requirement for high quality housing that was available to the general public at very affordable prices. A number of those original modular structures can still be seen in-situ today.
