It's no secret that social media sites are the most highly trafficked sites on the Internet and learning how to leverage the power of social media can be a powerful way to build your MLM business. Today I'm going to talk about why you should be using social media to build your business and I'm also going to provide you with a few techniques and strategies that will help you get the most out of your social media marketing.

It today's marketplace, social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, and Youtube have changed the way we build our MLM businesses. Social media sites are perfect for building relationships and networking on the Internet and that is what the the MLM industry is all about. The biggest advantage of social media sites is that they allow you to build more relationships and network with more people, 10x faster than you could offline.

With that said, most network marketers are not having any success using this form of marketing, however it's because they don't understand how social media works and how to leverage it to build their businesses. These sites are designed to build relationships, connect with people, and share things as you would if you were at a social gathering. To use social media effectively, it is important that you keep this in mind at all times. Simply put, there is a right way to use social media marketing and there is a wrong way.

The wrong way to use social media sites, the way most network marketers use them, is to just promote promote promote and sell sell sell. If you do that, well that is just spamming people and you will make a bad name for yourself. When you do it this way you are just hurting your reputation and making yourself look bad. The sad truth is that this is what the majority of network marketers trying to use social media are doing and why they are not having any success using this form of marketing. You must build the relationship or following first, before you every try and sell them or promote your opportunity.

If you are just promoting your opportunity and not being genuine, people will see that and will NOT connect with and definitely not join your opportunity. Be yourself. Let people know about you and how you are a real person, maybe mention what you do or what your opportunity is, but you goal should be to let them come to you. Once they initiate conversation about your opportunity, only then is it ok to provide them more information because they have asked for it.

Something else to remember is to approach social media with the attitude of giving and sharing without expecting anything in return. This is crucial to your social media marketing. Most network marketers are just looking for fast results so they do not approach social media in this manner. If you want to get results with social media, you have to think long-term and do it right.

Think of it this way...if you are branding yourself as a leader in the industry and sharing your knowledge and value with the people you are connecting with without expecting them to join you in return, they WILL see that and it will attract more people to you. If you approach social media the right way, over time you will have more leads for your MLM business then you know what to do with.
