Microwave Oven Repair Appliance Tips

When your microwave doesnt appear to be getting any power, test the outlet the appliance is plugged into by using a hair dryer or some other small electrical appliance and if there is power, it could be a blown internal thermal fuse or the door switch may be broken. If the internal thermal fuse or door switch is defective contact your local appliance repair person. The thermal fuse will blow out if there is too much power coming through it which in turn protects you. With an electrical overload it will cause the wire inside that conducts the electricity to break. If the door switch isnt working, it doesnt allow the circuit to connect causing the microwaves components to not work properly. Another problem maybe with the circuit board or a bad triode. Usually a defective diode will have a burnt smell and may crack open or split, contact your local professional appliance repair person immediately to assist you with the testing.

If for some reason your microwave oven doesnt seem to cook anything take a look at your microwaves door switches which are re simple on and off devices that prevent the appliance from running when the door is open. The door switches are about an inch in length and black with metal terminals at the end that make contact with the door latch. With this contact it completes the connection that allows the microwave oven to run. If the connection isnt made then, the microwave will not turn on. Inspect the door latch and release. If one of these is faulty, the door switch wont activate, and the oven wont work. If you suspect that the thermal fuse has blown, call a professional appliance repair person. Even an unplugged microwave oven can kill or seriously injure someone. This is because there is a high energy capacitor inside the microwave oven case. If it is not discharged properly, you could be electrocuted.

When the programming sequence isnt entered properly your microwave will not respond. Check to see if the delay start has been programmed in with a touch control panel when it is unresponsive. Hit the cancel or clear button and if this doesnt clear it up, unplug the microwave for 30 seconds, plug it back in and try it again. Thirty seconds of no power allows the panel to reboot itself.

Again, if you require further assistance, contact your local appliance repair man.
