Segway rental Christmas
I rocked my family's world last Christmas by surprising them all with a trip to Miami Beach, Florida. The real kicker was it wasn't a gift that I gave them for Christmas. It was a trip to Miami beach during Christmas! Another thing that made our Christmas so cool in South Beach was the fact that we all got Segway rentals and drove them all around the famous beach town! My family and I are from Bethlehem, Pennsylvania which is world famous for its Christmas time festivities. People come from all over America because of the name of our small town and how it relates to the story of Christmas.
I love our Christmases is in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania but I wanted to show my family a different style of Christmas for at least one time in their lives. Little did I know that the Segway rental was going to also have such an impact on our Christmas day fun. So we flew down to Miami three days before Christmas. It was my wife, my 14 -year-old daughter, my 16 -year-old son, and myself. When I first told my wife about my plan she almost had a panic attack! She is so used to having the big family gathering and cooking all of the food and doing all of the work on Christmas, that she really didn't know how to respond to not having to do all of those things.
After I explained to her however that we would probably never have the opportunity to do something like this with our children again she thought about it harder and told me that she thought it was a good idea also. We had not been to Florida as a family since the children were young and we took them to Disney World in Orlando, Florida. So the kids were really enjoying it. On our second day there we went to the Segway rental store to see about getting our Segways. We were staying in a hotel right on Collins Avenue which was only about three blocks away from the Segway rental store which was on Lincoln Road.
My entire family took to the Segways like a fish takes to water. The vehicles were amazingly intuitive which made it easy to navigate the streets of South Beach. On our first day with the Segways we took them everywhere around the beach. We had so much fun on them that when we returned to the
Segway rental store we asked the owner if it was possible for us to keep them overnight so we could have them for Christmas day. His office was going to be closed on Christmas day so he told us as long as our hotel okayed us bringing the Segways inside our hotel rooms that it would be okay with him also. So we called the hotel and they let us know they did not have a problem with it whatsoever. To them it was just about the equivalent of a wheel chair.
