Miami Dolphins Face Tougher Schedule

Miami Dolphins Face Tougher Schedule

By:

The dolphins success last year comes with a much tougher schedule for this year which will basically make it difficult to defend their AFC East title.
Based on last years regular season records, they will have a tight schedule in the NFL next season though things might turn out differently. The Dolphins will play with the entire of NFC south and AFC south. They will as well face AFC North and west champions following their win last year. This will give them one of the most grueling sessions from the NFL.

If records from the Dolphins opponents from last years season are compared to the 2008 records for their 2009 opponents, AFC East champions might not bring out great results as expected-it wont be a pleasant work on the beach .

Englands schedule is difficult, infact almost impossible. They basically have two expectations; next season the patriots play Baltimore while the Dolphins play super Bowl and champion Pittsburg. New England will be facing AFC west Denver as Miami plays division champions San Diego.
Last year, Dolphins opponents combined for a 118-138 record, however the combined 2008 records for next seasons schedule is 152-104.

The 2008 season was the first since its division formation in 2002; the division winner didnt finish last in the previous season. Atlanta improve moving from 4-12 to 11-5, just one game of the division title. This basically shows how quickly things change in the NFC South; basic changes at the top.

For 43 years down the line, Atlanta hasnt managed to win consecutively as it used to do before. Tampa Bay on the other hand is a 9-7 veteran team in place which is at times worse than a team in a rebuilding team. Even with the NFLs number one Drew Brees throwing for the first 5,000-yard season since Dan Marino, they still manage to only 8-8.

Talking of quarterback health, AFC season was thrown into frustrations when New Englands Tom Brady experienced a knee injury early in the season opening game. Whether he will return next season or not will or might affect the Dolphins schedule strength.

The rest of the AFC East plays almost have the same schedules as those of the Dolphins. They save getting the AFC north and AFC West teams that finished in the same position as them; therefore, as the Dolphins meet Pittsburgh and San Diego, the Jets for example, meet Cincinnati and Oakland.
All this evaluates why the Dolphins won the AFC East title because of the simple and easy schedule. The Dolphins and Patriots split their titles as each one of them went 0-2 against the AFC South and AFC North opponents (Houston and Baltimore for the Dolphins and Indianapolis and Pittsburgh for New E England.

In the remaining 12 games each team won 3-1 against foes buffaloes and New York and 7-1 against the four AFC West and NFC West teams.
The Dolphins have a tighter schedule to maintain the 2008 performance. If the schedule is not met, it will mean great disappointments for the Dolphins this year; this season.
