Menthol Cigarettes - What Is The Difference Between Them And The Classic Cigarettes?

Menthol cigarette was just a concept till 1924 but as of now it is quite a force to reckon with for cigarette manufacturers, both cheap and regular alike. Take a few facts to chew on – menthol cigarettes are most popular amongst African Americans (79%) across gender than Native Americans. However, interestingly enough, an average African American smokes about 8-10 cigarettes less than his or her white American compatriot. But when it comes to choice of alternate tastes, 56% of Afro Americans prefer to avoid a regular (non menthol) cigarette which is twice the figure for whites.

Having said all these, let’s see what the differences between classic and menthol cigarettes are. Menthol cigarettes were introduced as a part of marketing strategy to broaden product portfolio. Menthol is a chemical compound, available both as natural extract and synthetic compound that has a characteristic that arouses cold sensitive nerves. Smokers of menthol cigarettes, discount price or else, feel a mellowed down taste which is the opposite of burning taste from classic cigarettes.

The cool and mellowed down taste causes two things in succession. First off, smokers tend to drag shallow or fewer puffs as they feel colder with each drag. Studies tell this feeling induces smokers to smoke more to feed their satisfaction level. Next, as a result, expired carbon monoxide and other carcinogenic substances appear to be more precipitant in menthol smokers. The minified effect the menthol casts over throat and lungs from hot smokes and bitter nicotine coupled with anesthetic effect due to mint flavor adds up in pushing for more cigarettes.

But regardless of any amount of studies, the bottom line is still valid – cigarette smoking is injurious to health.

Why Black Americans like menthol cigarettes more than anyone else? There are as many answers to this as you would like to guess. The majority of Afro Americans buy menthols from Newport, Marlboro, Camel, Winston Cigarettes, Virginia slims, and Salem from a tax free online tobacco store but one reason that can be attributed to this trend is target marketing and advertisement. There is also this argument that many African Americans have higher presence of glucose diegeneicocide in their bloods. This substance causes them to be happy when it fills the smoke of menthol cigarettes. In any case, menthol brands are quickly addictive.

If you look at it, there are more rumors around than truth. The fact that African Americans tend to smoke menthol more has no particular reason than personal preferences or a tad bit because of stereotyping of communities in general. Anyone buying cheap discount cigarettes from an online shop or sale is doing so just because most from his or her community prefer a particular taste.

An interesting bit of information is menthols are preferred because of their relative cheap prices, cheaper than cheap Marlboro cigarettes. For example, if you buy Virginia Slims, a pretty popular menthol cigarettes brand, can last for double the time bought for the same amount of money as would Marlboro regulars cost. Perhaps this is the reason why all top selling brands including Marlboro, Camel, Winston, Cheap Virginia Slims cigarettes, and Salem all of them have menthol versions of top selling brands. Marlboro Mild and Marlboro Menthol are a couple of examples.
