Mens Fashion Tips - How To Wear Cuff Links

By:

Cufflinks are older than buttons, the safety pin, and even the zipper. Because of improvements on cufflinks, men now are using them even more often. Cufflinks also make a great and classy addition to the individual's fashion and to the suit or dress shirt, whatever you plan on wearing.

Before you wear cufflinks, you need to consider a few things, firstly the occasion where you intend wearing them to as well as the attire that you've decided to wear. For e.g it could be an occasion or even an important job interview. These are important primary decisions since cufflinks come in different variations of styles, colors and themes and you have to wear them for the correct occasion or event, making sure that it even matches your attire.

First select a shirt that has the correct cuffs. You will have to make a choice between the three different types of French cuffs. There are three types of cuffs namely the plain cuff, the round cuff or the angle cut cuffs. Alternatively you can wear a shirt that is exchangeable and has both a button and a buttonhole on the inner part of the cuff.

Once you have chosen the shirt to wear, turn your attention to how you will put on the cufflinks. Your shirt will have a loose flappable part of the fabric which you must fold inwards so that you have a cuff that is folded cleanly. Ensure that the buttonholes are lined up on the surface of the cuff where the two cloth pieces should converge.

Because Cufflinks are found in diverse devices to fasten them, you must know what to do. One is called a post cufflink that has a hinged bar. For post cufflinks, rotate the hinged bar of the cufflinks so that you can be able to slip the bar through buttonholes. When you have done that, rotate it again and when the hinged bar is open, it will cause the hinged cufflink to be held in position.

The button type of cufflinks is a little different and comes in two identical buttons that are connected with the help of a short chain. All you need to do is slide the one button down the buttonholes and you will have buttons on each of the sides. The button holds the cufflinks together so they stay on the shirt.

The types of cuff links that are clipped have buttons and a decorative piece on each side. They also have a front and back that clutch together in the center where they hook together through the buttonholes. The silken knot cuff links has two fabric bands that interlaced together using a short little silk fabric and work the in the identically in the manner that button cufflinks work and the knot comes out on each side of the cuff.
