Mens Fashion Donts And Please Dos

Are you one of the millions of men in this country that are completely clueless when it comes to what is hot? No doubt you feel helplessly adrift in the vast open ocean that is fashion. Dont worry! Here is list of fashion dos and donts that will help you catch a strong headwind to bring you safely to shore.

Sock NoNos
Everyone agrees that men are sometimes looked upon as the fashion inept because so many of them believe that socks and Birkenstocks are an acceptable combination. Socks arent for wearing with sandals and they certainly arent for wearing with any kind of open toed shoe. Also, wearing light colored socks with dark pants is atrocious! We are so proud of your ability to use the bleach but you dont have to show everyone by pairing your, oh so, bright socks with your black slacks. Pairing your white socks with a pair of khakis or tan trousers is perfectly acceptable, because it isnt drawing all of the attention to your feet.

Boldly Going Back into the Closet
Yes, you are probably the only one of your male friends that can quote the entire opening sequence to Star Trek: The Next Generation, but that doesnt mean you have to parade around town wearing a frayed Star Trek t-shirt. Novelty shirts are cool on the hanger, but when you want to dress to impress (either the ladies or a prospective boss) keeping Picard in the closet is probably the wisest course. Sporting a plain colored t-shirt or even a t-shirt emblazoned with a companys brand name are both acceptable. However, wearing a t-shirt spray painted by hand with your own personal logo is not.

DeFEET
When were big chunky shoes ever in style? When strolling along the boardwalk in the twilight, nothing gets your woman out of the mood faster than the sound of your clunky shoes thudding against the boards. One of the fashion musts is wearing shoes that actually fit your feet. We arent talking about getting your shoes tailor made, but we are talking about getting your shoe size measured at the shoe store and buying shoes in that size. No, buying shoes a size bigger is out of the question, so is wearing the right size and leaving the laces super loose. Laces are there for a reason, use them.

Blinding Bling
It is great that you are able to afford the best in fine jewelry. However, it is completely unnecessary to wear the entire contents of your jewelry box at the same time. When it comes to bling, moderation is the key.

One necklace at a time

One ring to each hand

One earring to each ear (if you are one of the earring wearing types)

Wearing too much jewelry to make a statement might not be sending the statement you are intending, unless you intend to convey that you like being seen from space.

Now that you know some of the simple dos and donts of mens fashion, go ahead, dress up and wow somebody today.
