Mens Fashion And Turleneck Sweaters

By:

We are very fond of turtlenecks because they are so comfortable. They have a nice finished look at the top. They are super for casual attire that is also a bit upscale.

They are warmer in the colder weather especially as the fall makes a transition to winter. They look good when worn under a jacket or when worn as casual wear all by themselves. Both shirts and sweaters are available as turtlenecks. Turtlenecks can be a simple solid cotton shirt or they can be made of much finer materials such as cashmere. As they range from shirt to sweaters the thickness of the materials used to make the turtleneck increases.

At one end of the spectrum you have the thinnest of t-shirts that are made in the turtleneck style. At the other end of the spectrum you have very thick sweaters, even heavy knit fisherman's sweaters with very wide oversized turtleneck collars, and of course everything in between. We believe that turtlenecks have remained popular because in casual wear they give the appearance of something around the neck that substitutes for a tie.

Their simplicity is their strength. They are usually in a monochrome pattern, meaning a single solid color or various shades of design that all blend very easily together. They are easy to maintain with simple washing, and never need ironing, because they are made out of some version of stretchable fabric or knitted materials. When you put on a simple turtleneck and tuck it into your pants, you can pull it down and stretch any wrinkles right out of it.

Rayon is a marvelous material for turtlenecks because of its ability to be stretched and because of its durability. Sometimes the turtleneck sweaters have a zipper up near the neck to allow you to unzip the neck and open up the top to display a collar instead of the turtleneck, which is a nice feature. Women are actually wearing skin colored turtlenecks with deep cut open blouses, but this is not a trend recommended for men.

Depending on your body type, be careful about the striped patterns. If you are overweight, horizontal stripes will make you look much fatter. If you are tall and thin, vertical stripes will make you look even more tall and more thin.

Look at your body type without a shirt in the mirror and then if you want to wear striped turtlenecks choose ones that have the stripes running in the direction that will most flatter you, rather than the other way around. Another neat trick is to choose the color of the turtleneck as a solid color that brings out the color of your eyes.

For example, if you have deep blue eyes, chose a turtleneck that is a shade of blue or gray just slightly lighter than the shade of your eyes. It works the same with brown eyes. Choose a turtleneck of a solid color, one shade lighter that the color of your eyes. If you have dark black eyes you will look stunning in a pure white turtleneck.

The reason this works is that when someone else looks at you they scan you from slightly above the waist (lower if they are totally rude) then up your torso to meet with your eyes. A solid color turtleneck is like the eye runway that they look up and they adjust to the shade, until they see the contrasting color of your eyes. This is a subtle but also a very powerful effect.
