To reach this fort founded by Rao Jodha in 1459, visitors have to cross seven gates which bear some marks of the various fights that had taken place in the former area. Besides temples and galleries, the Pearl Palace also known as The Moti Mahal is of value as it holds the citys royal throne.
Undoubtedly the main highlight of the Mehrangarh fort is its museum which is one of the most prominent ones in Rajasthan. A collection of ancient royal palanquins can be found in one section of the museum. Overall Rathores heritage is simply displayed here with costumes, arms, decorated period rooms and paintings. The period rooms consist of Moti Mahal - The Pearl Palace, Phool Mahal - The Palace of Flowers, Sheesha Mahal - The Hall of Mirrors and Takhat Vilas - Maharaja Takhat Singh's Chamber.
