Megan Mullally Is Ready To Party

One of the funniest actresses I know, Megan Mullally, is joining the cast of the Starz channel"s original comedy "Party Down." Mullally will be on board for the show"s second season, which is tentatively scheduled to premiere in April 2010.The half-hour comedy follows a group of Hollywood wannabes who work for the Party Down careering company in L.A. One of its creators is Rob Thomas, who was also responsible for the fan and critic favorite alike "Veronica Mars."

The series stars Ken Marino as Ken Donald, the leader of the company, Adam Scott as former actor Henry Pollard, Ryan Hansen as the aspiring musician/actor/stud Kyle Bradway, Martin Starr as sci-fi nerd Roman DeBeers, and Lizzy Caplan as Henry"s girlfriend Casey. Jane Lynch was a series regular during the first season but has since left the show.

Mullally is set to play Lydia Dunfree, a middle-aged divorcee who escapes the monotony of small town life and moves to Hollywood. Her 13-year-old daughter Escapade hopes to make it as an actress, and in order to support her daughter"s dreams, Lydia takes a job at Party Down catering. In between working for tips, Lydia will be bringing her daughter to auditions and also making some time to find a new man. Mullally will be a great addition to the show, as she was always my favorite character on "Will & Grace."

She actually won two Emmys for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for playing the drunken ice queen Karen Walker. She also earned her four Golden Globe nominations and four Screen Actors Guild. Mullally will also be starring the upcoming movie Fame.Seeing as though I do not subscribe to Starz on Dish Network, I have been meaning to check out "Party Down" for a while now. It looks like my type of comedy "" witty and sarcastic. I put the first season in my Netflix instant queue (where you can watch movies on your computer instead of waiting to get them in the mail) but I have yet found the time to sit down and enjoy them. The first season was only ten episodes, so I really should get on that!
