Mazda Recall: Mazda Claims Oil Hose Issue, Recall Model

By:

AUTOMAKER MAZDA has issued a Mazda recall for the Mazda 3, a compact car which is available in Japan as Axela. While the Mazda recall covers 35,000 cars in Japan and over 55,000 in China, apart from 6000 such cars sold in UK and a total 90,000 in total, it does not cover such cars in Europe or even in United States.

The Mazda recall has been issued after an oil hose issue has been identified. Some of the Mazda 3 or Axela model cars have an oil hose placed too close to the protective panel of the radiator. This can cause to rub against the protective panel whenever the car travels over a bumpy road and the resulting friction can cause the hose to wear down and develop leaks.

While the company has recalled models Mazda 3 or Axela cars in China, Japan and UK, the company won't recall such cars in US and Europe. The US Mazda 3 apparently has a different make engine, which won't lead to this issue and the owners of Mazda 3 cars in Europe can get the problem fixed with their next servicing or tune-up.

Mazda has clarified that the issue is not a safety related issue, but one than comes in service rework. A UK Spokesperson for Mazda said that they have spoken with the Vehicle and Operator Services Agency on the issue and both agree that it isn't safety related.

The company has stated that an incident did occur with the Mazda 3 or Axela, which caused a car to break down in China, in January, but nothing more severe has occurred which is realted to this issue.

This Mazda recall for the Mazda 3, is the second recall by the company this year. Earlier, the automaker had issued a Mazda recall in March, which covered its CX-9 SUV. The company had recalled 12,300 models od the vehicle, over a overheated seat issue.

The car maker's recall comes after a series of recalls and other problems that have been affecting the car industry for some time. It also the next in the list of big Japanese automakers which include names like Honda, Toyota and the like, to be embroiled in such problems.
