Belle Isle State Park in Virginia is a 733 acres site from where you can see beautiful River Rappahannock in Lancaster County. This Park is a home to various predatory birds, amphibians and reptiles. It has many diversified geological features making it a nice place for environment education.

Located in two Counties Alleghany and Bath Counties, Douthat State Park offers fantastic scenery of Alleghany Mountains. It opened on 15 June 1936 and its 50-acre lake offers many comforts related to it. Bear Creek Lake State Park offers many facilities, but very less crowds. A 60000 acres Cumberland State forest surrounds it and most on its activities revolve around its 40-acre lake that provides all comforts.

Located in a rural agriculture area along River James, Chippokes Plantation State Park is the oldest working farm in US. Virginia General Assembly created it in 1977 as a model farm. It offers views to many animals, birds and wildflowers. Established in 1965, Grayson Highlands State Park does not allow any pets in park's public facilities. It adjoins Mount Rogers National Recreation Area. No vehicle can go to False Cape State Park which is located in southern Virginia Beach. It is a primitive site on East Coast.

It can only be explored by hiring a ferry and going through the forest and reaching your destination. During 1800s, it used to be graveyard for ships. Visitors who come to stay overnight should read the warnings about what is happening in the Park. National Tunnel State Park was opened to public in 1970. This Park has been attracting visitors because it offers breathtaking views along with other usual facilities. The Tunnel gives the impression of pre-historic evidence about fossils found on its walls and creek bed.

Sprawled in 4500-acres Claytor Lake State Park offers wide variety of activities for land and sea loving people. Just off Interstate 81, fishing permit is required that is available from marina office. One of the original six State Parks, Fairy Stone State Park, got opened on 15 June 1936 and is famous for its fairy stones. Roanoke newspaper donated 4868 acres and it was established. It offers a great variety of hunting and fishing opportunities for which you require a valid license.

Adjacent to it is a Deer Management area. Deep within the area of Appomattox-Buckingham State Forest is Holiday Lake State Park. It has a 150-acre Lake amid cascading hills. Common amenities are provided. Lake Anna State Park was created to work as a water coolant for Virginia's nuclear plant. After proper construction, it was opened to public in 1983. Various programs are enacted to tell visitors about its history and nature. All other usual comforts are available.

Mason Neck State Park is situated in between Belmont Bay in south, Pohick Bay in north and on eastern side is River Potomac. It was opened for public in 1985. This Park has lots of hardwood trees and many species of native and migratory birds. Virginia's license is required for fishing whereas hunting can be done in by a lottery scheme.
