Mangi Ferra, A Fine Italian Restobar | Mumbai

What you see - A beautiful mango tree welcomes you at the entrance of Mangi Ferra (means mango tree) at Vile Parle (W) in Mumbai. Inside, soothing colors accentuate different levels of seating. Smart use of glass and lighting imparts a chic quality to the overall dcor. The seating is comfortable and well spaced for intimate conversations. A smiling bartender shows off his flair bartending skills at a huge bar, lined with bar stools and high tables. Guests can enjoy couple of drinks on a couch placed near the entrance before dining. Candles placed at the table, set the mood.

What you get - The well stocked bar at Mangi Ferra serves a good selection of top shelf wines, domestic and international liquors and cocktails, but wines are what should be tried here! We tried a bottle of great Californian Pinot Noir red wine, which was delicate and fresh. Next came Bloody Mary, which arrived without salt on the rim, but when brought to the notice of the server was immediately replaced with a smile.

The extensive menu at this restobar has wood fired oven pizzas, a selection of Italian appetizers, pastas, varieties of risotto and yummy desserts. We started with Siciliano salad which had a zesty mustard lemon dressing drizzled over Rocket and Romaine lettuce, sundried tomatoes, bocconcini (a semi soft mild cheese) and fresh pineaaple. Next, we ordered Cajun chicken which had grilled chicken pieces marinated with Cajun spices and served with guacamole and sour cream; perfectly done.

For the main course we tried Pizza Capriciosa. Its homemade pesto flavor blended perfectly well with bell peppers, sundried tomatoes and jalapenos on a thin pizza crust. We finished off our splendid meal with Tiramisu which was divine and the best we have had till date.

Our verdict - Nestled in a beautiful location, Mangi Ferra is a gem. Enjoy authentic Italian cuisine with a good selection of wines and delectable desserts here. Its a little expensive, but truly worth the experience! The bar buzzes on weekends with events, drawing huge crowds; so reserve a table in advance. A favorite amongst Bollywood crowd, Mangi Ferra has excellent service, good food and great ambience - a trilogy hard to find! The portion sizes are small and valet and takeaway facilities are available.
