There is one thing that can be said about beer and that is that it is an universal symbol of masculinity. Few men realize that there are over 10,000 beers in the world and it is the oldest fermented drink known to exist - all the way back to the ancient Egyptians. It was made even earlier than wine. Some ancient Egyptian guy probably messed up and forgot to rotate the stock of mead, some of it spoiled, began to ferment, and voila we had beer made from the lazy error! Whoever was the first guy to try to drink the stuff (fermented mead), our hats are off to him for having the courage. In modern times beer has become a symbol of nationalism. There is pride in the beer that guys drink and there are millions of advertising dollars spent to convince us of our choices.

We recommend that you don't be a robot and just follow along as the pawn of the advertising conglomerates. They can spend millions to convince you that their particular brand is the only beer you need. But we say no to this false persuasion. A man's choice of a beer is as individual as his fashion sense and it should not be driven by the mega-bucks of advertising dollars, but instead made by that man's own personal taste.

The word is taste. You need to have taste in fashion and you need to have taste in the beer that you drink. With fashion sometimes you may have to accept the taste that is based on the decisions of others. This is because fashion is a group think. But with your beer you only need to think about your own taste. And you need to taste the beer you drink. You need to compare it with others and see how different they taste. You may be very surprised in the variety that exists.

On the spectrum of taste with the lite-beers having the least taste to the heavy dark ales of Europe having a taste so strong it might choke you, there is a beer for every taste. Maybe you like the lite-beer taste (which barely has any) or maybe you don't know the difference because you never tried any others. Just like fashion in clothes you need to try different things to find your style and the same goes for beer.

One of the ads we just love (we will not repeat the name of the company because you probably already know it), is the ad where they talk about the most interesting man in the world. If there ever was a way to capture what we feel makes a "man's man" they did it and their beer tastes pretty good as well. Kudos for the advertising company to go right to the heart of it. They understand that man is made by his choices and that includes his choice of clothes, and his choice of the beer he drinks. The next time you pick up a brewski and have a sit down with all your friends, think about what it says about you and allow yourself the freedom to pick one you like. This is the way to establish your taste. Your taste is your own and you have a right to it.
