Making Your Eve Online Character And What Will Happen In Game

By:

When you first log on to EVE Online to play you will have to make a character. Your EVE Online character will be your avatar in chat windows, and your name throughout the galaxy. Opinions and attitudes towards you will depend upon your race, and sub choices you make. Regardless of what race you pick there will be someone that wants you dead just because.

There are four main races to choose from to create your EVE Online character. They are Amarr, Minmatar, Gallente, and the Caldari. Each race has unique strengths, weaknesses, and ship designs. Sub choices for your character are decided on which class of citizen you pick for them, and what school they attended. These boost some attributes and abilities that may be useful to your trade.

Keep in mind that some races hate each other. Currently none of them get along period, but there is open war between two of them at all times. Remember that when choosing your race. You will be barred from systems of other races, and maybe even fired upon by local forces if you fly into their space.

Another thing to keep in mind when making your EVE Online character is they're technological uniqueness. This game is not for people who are expecting an easy fight and the four races are not equally balanced. Minmatar ships are usually structurally weak, and look like someone strapped a set of engines, and guns to a construction scaffold. They do however make great missile platforms, and excellent miners.

Caldari ships are well rounded and make better industrial transports. Amarr ships are more streamlined for speed and agility, and Gallente ships are more high tech. Weapon effectiveness also differs from race to race. Certain races prefer certain weapons over others. As such your characters skill with a certain weapon type may suffer.

This is half the fun when making an EVE Online character though. After all having your decisions affect how you're going to proceed is something that's been lacking in games as of late. EVE is not a fair game to say the least, if you mess up in its world you will be punished severely, unless of course you can outrun whoever is shooting at you. That's also part of the fun in this game.

Missions will also differ based on race, and school. During the game the agents that will give you missions might not like you if you choose one school over another. While this does not detract from the main single player storyline it does make you hop around the galaxy trying to find work. Of course individual player reaction to you won't really change regardless of what race you pick.

So when creating an EVE Online character remember to take into account the variables. Some races are at war with each other and you might be fired upon when you travel. Other races might simply refuse to do business with you due to your allegiance. Regardless remember to have fun and enjoy the game, but don't fly into a war zone unless you're supposed to be there.
