Making Ice To Match Demand

Making Ice To Match Demand

What would a scotch on the rocks be without the rocks? How about a slush puppy without the slush? Perish the thought! But if you haven't got the ice, then you would most definitely have this problem. Ice machines both for domestic and commercial use are an absolute god send, and as long as purchased with the amount of ice you will require in mind will certainly be well worth its weight in gold.

Where required for domestic use long gone are the days of filling plastic ice trays with water only for them to spill all over the freezer, or the inconvenience of having to remember to fill them the day before a function to make sure you can offer your guests a chilled beverage, or making batches days in advance, storing them in plastic bags in the freezer simply to cater for the demand. Domestic ice machines for low-use can be bought relatively cheaply, and will more than cater for a social event such as a Barbecue on a hot summer's afternoon. These little ice machines are perfectly portable.

Ideal for establishments such as a small pubs, quiet restaurants or guest houses, there is a table top version. The advantage of a table top ice machine especially in a smaller establishment is that it doesn't take up too much worktop space; it still has the capacity to meet demand. Set up simply requires access to an electricity supply and the water reservoir is filled manually so there is no need for direct mains water connection so you will never be restricted to where it can be used.

Commercial ice machines tend to have to supply a larger demand, not least meeting the needs of thirsty punters on hot summer days, wrestling each other to the bar for a long chilled beverage to quench the summer heat. As mentioned before Ice machines should be purchased with a mind of the amount of ice it will be required to produce, perhaps even how much ice it can store too.
Ice machines are not just limited to catering establishments, on an industrial scale ice machines are used on fishing boats or trawlers in order to keep the catch fresh in the hold until a time as when they can dock. Other industrial examples extend to fully automatic ice plants.

Ice has so many uses, preserving seems to be the most prominent, but many people make fortunes out of their artistic flair for sculpting. Ice sculptures have become increasingly popular and with that sculptures more and more adventurous, but for every ice sculpture which is created there has to be a source, this again would lead us back to an ice machine.

There are so many companies out there who make ice sculptures, table centrepieces to outstanding works of art, life size copies of cars, to illuminated corporate displays. These displays all start out as a plain block of ice sculpted to perfection, creating a visual display which is show stopping - perfect at weddings. Although ice sculptures can provide a logistical nightmare, requiring refrigerated transportation methods in order to deliver.

From Health care to health spa there is a need for this frozen substance, but would you believe there isn't just one kind of ice available, you can hard ice or stream ice, cubes or nuggets, chips or flaked, and believe it or not there are a number of reasons why you would require one better than the other. Stream ice flows, chipped or flaked ice moulds easily, cubed ice or nuggets melts more slowly therefore better in beverages or keeping displays chilled. So the next time you ask for ice in your drink just remember there is more to the cube than meets the eye!
