There's no doubt that becoming an Affiliate Marketer is the quickest and easiest way to start to make money working online. Eventually, you may move into other areas, using the skills you acquire along the way. You may create your own products, marketing them yourself, or via a whole team of affiliates. You can even use your newly found talents to help you run the online aspects of a traditional business. But, you have to start somewhere, and promoting downloadable information products is a great way to begin.

So why are 'info products' so in demand? Well, surveys indicate the average teenager, for example, spends over 30 hours online each week. And if you asked how many of them were looking for some type of information, nearly %100 would say 'yes'.

If we assume that, as marketers, we'll make money working online by supplying consumers with what they want - then we obviously have to give them information. But information is a broad subject - and that's where the science of niche and product research comes in.

Take 'guitar lessons' for example. For that term alone, almost 700,000 people search online each month - and that's just in Google. It's clear there's a huge market of clients willing to pay for guitar lessons. If we took all associated keywords into consideration, you'd find well over a million online searches each month.

Now, although millions of people may be searching online, why would they buy a downloadable product, rather than the physical equivalent? Well, the answer is refreshingly simple. If I create a traditional guitar course, I have all the overheads associated with it. Costs to print the tutorials for one. CD's to produce for accompanying material and music. Naturally, this is all passed to the consumer.

However, a product owner making the downloadable equivalent has little in the way of overheads. Once his tutorials are ready, he can make pdf's. Any musical pieces can be made into mp3 files. He sets up a simple and easy to build website and his customers are ready to buy. He has no ongoing costs of a physical product. No matter how many he sells, his website does all the work for him.

When I was a lad, guitar lessons meant either visiting a tutor, or buying a book plus tape and sitting down to get on with. Now, the next prospective Eric Clapton simply searches online, downloads the course of his choice, and away he goes. The advantage here is that he can be trying to play 'Layla' (or at least something a little more simple) almost immediately.

Hopefully, you can see that there is a hungry market for all sorts of products, with people eager to hand over their cash for them. You just need to learn how to spot the right niches, products and keywords. The rest is easy - you don't even need your own website - the vendor has already designed a perfectly good one, so use this for leverage. As long as you can persuade people to purchase via your affiliate link, you should not find it too hard to make money working online.
