Magic Of The Moment In Isaac Petersen's Photorealistic Landscapes At Agora Gallery

By:

Chelseas Agora Gallery will feature New Zealand artist, Isaac Petersen, in Out from Down Under & Beyond: Fine Art from Australia and New Zealand. The exhibition is scheduled to run from May 12, 2011 through June 1, 2011 (opening reception: Thursday, May 12, 2011).

About the Artist
Isaac Petersen made his name painting vibrant and exciting representations of the coast of his homeland. His passion for the sea and surfing contribute to the lively style of his contemporary oil on canvas landscapes. Shimmering aquamarine, gold and silver dance, contrasting with rich charcoal and taupe, dominating Petersens delightfully rendered local landscapes, imbuing the light catching the waves of New Plymouths beautiful sea with personal feeling. Here and there latent clusters of geomorphic rock dot the beach amidst ribbons of azure and the quixotic glimmer of lazy sea foam. A dedicated photorealist with an itinerant spirit, Petersens extended oeuvre reflects the diverse territories he encounters while traveling abroad. Like his oceanscapes, his forays into more urban territory possess the same care and clean, creamy lines.

Isaac Petersen was born and lives in New Plymouth, New Zealand. Before turning to oil paint he studied Graphic Design and received his Bachelor of Visual Arts in 2003.
