People who are in the Chicago area often times need to ship things either around the city, state, or even o another country. The shipping company you decide to use is all going to depend on how much you have to ship. It can range from an airport courier or a full size trucking company. You will find terms being used, for example, LTL, which stands for less than truck load. This term is when you have a shipment to ship that is not enough to fill up a truck. FTL is the opposite and means full truck load. FTL shippers are those who are shipping things in bulk and can fill up an entire truck load. For people who have smaller loads to deliver, a LTL truck may be what you are going to have to use. However, if you have a shipment that is smaller than a FTL load, you should consider getting into a car courier service and break down your shipments by using a cargo service.

The weight of a load that is LTL is usually in the range of about 100 to 10,000 pounds. This is a rather large eight range and can accommodate shipments that are too large for a cargo courier however it is also too small for a full truck shipment. LTL shipments are often used by smaller businesses that do not usually work with large quantities that are needed for full truck loads.

Due to the way LTL shipments operate, it often times can take a little longer to deliver than a FTL. What happens is that a truck will go to a pickup location that is usually on a schedule that's been arranged between a company and a Chicago courier service. From that point, it goes to a terminal where things are sorted and weighed out. They are then loaded onto the truck to be shipped. However, along that route somewhere, the truck stops somewhere else and does the same thing and the loads are broken down into smaller loads. The items are taken to their delivery location and this continues until the final destination is reached. There are many benefits to each one and your items can be shipped accordingly in the right way.
