Lounge Sofas And More For Your Office

By:

When you took your first office job, you were most likely stuck with a tiny desk or sitting in a cubicle. However, after many years of hard work, you've finally earned the right to your own office -preferably the corner office with the nice view and big windows. You probably spend more time in your office than you do at home, so this is your opportunity to make it feel homey and comfortable.

Before you go crazy with artwork and lounge sofas, keep in mind that this is not your home and your office still needs to be professional. If you are fortunate enough to work in a more relaxed environment, then you can enjoy a few more liberties. Find out from your superiors just how much they are willing to let you change the office. If you're allowed to paint, choose a relaxing and neutral color. No one wants to walk into a bright red office. The splashes of brighter colors can be shown in other décor rather than the paint. Just like at home, you want furniture and décor to match, otherwise the office will look disheveled and unorganized.

Although this is your space and you want it to feel a bit like home, it's still an office and you need to be able to function and do work in it. That means you need filing cabinets, a desk, and executive desk chairs. Splurge a little on the executive desk chairs. Not only do you deserve it, you're going to be sitting in it all day and you need it to be very comfortable. If space allows, incorporate a lounge sofa and some accent chairs. Employees will love visiting your office and it'll give you a place to lie down for those late nights.

It's important to stay positive and inspired at work. This is where art and photographs come into play. Sometimes you need to take your eyes off the computer screen. You probably can't paint a mural, but hang at least one piece of artwork in the office. Choose something that either makes you happy or reflects your work ethic or simply inspires you. Photographs of friends and family will also be a nice distraction from the daily grind. Feel free to add vases, small sculptures, and little nick-knacks. You might want to buy a few extra chairs in case you hold meetings in your office. If space is tight, try stackable chairs. Add some life to the office with a few plants or perhaps a small aquarium.

Your office should also be a reflection of your job. A lawyer will often have an office full of law books and dark furniture. A graphic designer's office will be much more artistic and relaxed. Everything from your furniture down to the vases should be a representation of you -professional you.

The office is still a place of business and not your home. Leave out the Lafer recliner, but do give it some vibrancy. A cold and sterile office will make you dread going to work. Keep it professional with a nice touch of relaxation.
