Lose Weight: You're Fat Because You Eat Way Too Much!

There. It had to be said. And So I said it.

So many times we over-analyze just why we've gained weight or why we're having a difficult time attempting to lose weight. I don't know about you, but I've used each and every reason in the book. It's simply because I'm stressed. It's because I'm bored. It is because of my fluctuating hormones. It's simply because ...

It is simply because we eat way too much!

Yes, issues like stress, boredom, hormones and other things can be part of the problem. But, the primary issue with attempting to lose weight is the fact that we just plain eat way too much.

And it is extremely easy to overeat in today's times. The majority of the foods which are advertised are quite heavy in calories. Compare the amount of commercials and ads about fruit and veggies with the amount of ads for chips, chocolate, and fast food restaurants. These are the foods that are in our minds most frequently due to commercials. Those are the foods we're most likely to consider when it is time to eat.

We are not truly aware of portion sizes, either. This may be particularly tricky when it comes to more heavy, calorie-laden foods. A proper portion of chips is actually a handful, but we devour the entire bag. A serving of meat should be only approximately the size of the palm of one's hand, yet most steaks take up half your plate. A bagel is considered to be two servings of bread, which means that a serving of bagel is just half of it. When was the last time you only ate half a bagel? And let's not even discuss the cream cheese on top of the bagel!

We're surrounded by high-calorie foods. And we are constantly bombarded with marketing that is extremely powerful at getting us to buy and eat these foods. This will certainly make it seem quite difficult to lose weight. But, there is a solution. The good news is that this solution will enable you to drop the weight while still dining on your favorite things to eat.

The solution is easy. Eat modest portions of fattening foods and big portions of low-calorie foods like vegetables and fruits. It seems like a no-brainer. Nonetheless, most of us do not do this. That's why a lot of people are fat.

So, what is the most effective strategy to do this, to keep away from the temptation to overeat the heavier foods? I've had the most success whenever I eat both low and high calorie foods in the same sitting. This gives me the feeling of fullness without taking in too many calories.

For instance, for dinner I'll eat smaller sized portions of meat and pasta or potatoes and much larger servings of vegetables. I really feel full after the meal, but have taken in far fewer calories. Exactly the same can be applied to snacking. Have some raw veggies along with a small portion of chips. Or have some fruit plus a modest cookie or little piece of cake. You will satisfy the craving without far too many calories.

Give this easy tip a try and you'll begin to lose weight rapidly and effortlessly!
