Lose Ten Pounds -- Permanently

By:

We all know that it's not really awfully hard to lose ten pounds to start with all it requires is self government, exercise and eating the right things! The great challenge is sustaining that new weight, and staying healthy while you do it. We also know that this is great in principle and hard in execution.

Unluckily there are countless myths and stories around about how to maintain the new weight. Some you may not realise are myths, because, like old wives tales, several of them have a few grains of truth there and those few grains of truth keep them live. Let's burst a few of those myths!

1 -- Skipping Breakfast Will Help You maintain The weight loss.

No it won't! There are myriad benefits to having breakfast; the main one is that it kickstarts your metabolism after sleeping. You are also less likely to have high fat or sugar snacks before your noon meal (if you were going to resist all of these snacks then you likely wouldn't have a weight problem in the first place). Another important reason not to skip breakfast is that if you do your body will pull the energy needs from your muscles rather than from fat.

2 -- Eating A Low Carb Diet Will Be Sure To maintain The weight off.

Partly true. If the carbs that you stop eating are things like sugar then, yes that's a great way to maintain the weight loss. But there are a lot more cabs than just sugar. Wholemeal bread is a source of carbohydrate and for most of us this is an quality food (it's obviously not a good source of food for individuals with wheat allergies!) Your body needs carbohydrates, for energy and building muscles merely cutting out a entire food group could well harm your health rather than help it.

3 -- As Long As You You Can Eat What You Want.

Not true. Whilst it is true that a lot of working out means that you can eat a little more, if you want to keep healthy than that little more you eat needs to be things like vegetables fruits and lean meats. Eating the bad things can impact your wellness as well as your weight. If you are exercising a lot then you need to put good quality fuel into your body so that you feel better rather than worse.

4 -- You Need To Stay On A Low Cal Diet So That You Don't Gain The Weight Back.

Partly true. If you have gained weight then you've obviously done it by eating too much! So you can't return to the same patterns of eating that caused you to gain weight if you're hoping for the weight to stay off. But weight losses arent just about numbers on scales it's also about how you appear, so if you want to look good you need to eat in a healthy way, and enough of it.

It would be easy to keep on on with a great deal more myths that should to be burst. Losing weight, keeping it off and remaining healthy isn't rocket science. And if you really want to do it, it is easy once you set your mind to it.

Whilst many people may be seeking for a quick fix, there really is only one way to lose weight and maintain it off permanently. You need to working out, eat the right things, and use willpower. Losing weight and keeping it off can become a matter of life and death take charge of yourself before it gets that serious.
