Tutus make a girl feel extra special and pretty when wearing them. I believe that is why adding a tutu to just about any costume is a wonderful addition. No matter if it is for a a holiday or a spring play a tutu can spice up anything and everything! You could do a pirate costume and add a tutu. Imagine the black and white striped top with sleaves kind of cut in a zig zag line and black tights. Now add a black, red and white tutu with a gold belt! It now went from a pirate costume with a kick with out costing you an arm and a leg. Another good costume idea would be Rainbow bright. Any solid color tights and top then add a rainbow tutu. You have now turned a basic shirt and stockings into a costume just by adding one article of clothing.

The ideas are limitless. For a spring play and you need trees and flower costumes for the little girls. For a tree have the girls wear all brown then add a green tutu and you could even incorporate some actual fake leaves on the tutu to make it look more like a tree. For a flower you can wear green tights a yellow shirt and a solid color tutu and add some fake flower petals to it to also make it more real. Same goes with just about any fruit. Let's say your little girl wants to be a strawberry. All you would need is green tights and a green top. Then have a red tutu you can add fake leaves around the waist and add little pom poms on the tutu to make it look like seeds and there you go!! Another is the Fourth of July tutus.

Red, white and blue tutu and add a beautiful bow that has the American flag on it. You could even add stars to it and make it sparkle! There are many things you can add to a tutu to make it more unique. For example, when making a tutu with more than two colors use the lightest color on top and make it a little bit shorter than the rest of the tulle. This will give it a layered effect and give it more depth. Another thing you can do is add stones. Rhinestones are shiney and can instantly make any tutu sparkle. Tutus are great for just about any costume the ideas are limitless!
