Locate The Correct Buick Engine Parts

By:

Most automotive machine shops encounter challenges when finding replacement engine parts for an engine. Some of the most powerful engines around have not been made in many years. This has created a challenge for the modern performance engine builder that must be overcome. Quite a few engine builders are confronted with this situation now with performance Buick V6 engine parts.

The 3.8L turbo Buick engine is mainly known for being the powerhouse under the hoods of Buick Grand Nationals. GM quit producing this car in the late eighties and they have a very small stock of replacement engine parts for this engine. Therefore, most engine rebuilders have started looking to the aftermarket industry to fulfill their part requirements.

A number of USA based producers have stopped making some engine parts for the 3.8L turbo Buick engine. The discontinued parts include connecting rods among others. Some in the United States believe this is placing more pressure on the remaining domestic producers to become more efficient or risk rising competition from foreign manufacturers.

New turbo Buick engine blocks are also in short supply. Very few of these blocks still exist and are held by few people. Therefore, a market has developed for used engine blocks that are suitable to be machined and rebuilt. But for a boosted engine, the maximum oversize cylinder bore must not exceed .040". Engine blocks bored beyond this risk operating with cylinder walls which are not thick enough for a boosted engine.

A limited number of engine builders have the knowledge necessary to build a durable turbo Buick engine which produces a significant amount of performance. This, combined with limited parts availability, often makes it much smarter for the vehicle owner to utilize the services of a specialized engine rebuilder to perform their engine build.

At the present time, there are aftermarket internal engine components available for the 3.8L turbo Buick engine. These engine parts have been tested and have performed properly under extreme racing conditions. In fact, these engines will still give any modern day engine a good run for its money.
