Local Seo Quick List

By:

For someone who is running a small business in a specific community, it is important to have web presence. They may decide that it is time to start a webpage but aren't sure just how to go about driving traffic to their site. Short of taking an internet marketing course to learn all about the convoluted ins and outs of SEO, there are some simple, quick and easy tips to remember when designing any webpage for local traffic that should help to drive some traffic to the site. If more time or money is available, by all means, take an internet marketing course. It can only help you to truly reach your business goals. Of course, for those who want to get started now, we've provided a few proven steps for some added results.

Step 1: Use a good, accurate, and keyword rich domain name. This would be gone into in greater depth in an internet marketing course but suffice it to say that the name of your domain is important for both keyword optimization for Google spiders, and also important for marketing in general. Nonsense keywords, keywords with strange spellings, or keywords that are difficult to remember will not be remembered by your customers; which is only going to hurt your business.

Step 2: Utilize tags. Place the keywords for your site within the heading tags, image name tags and, of course, the meta tags. Don't focus on meta tags to the exclusions of all others because spiders check them all.

Step 3: Target local keywords: A full internet marketing course would teach you all about keyword research but, for now, this should suffice. You should aim at specific keywords that get a medium amount of searches. Too many searches and there is too much competition and low converting traffic. Too few and you don't have enough prospects. Aim in the middle with specific keyword phrases that indicate your specific location, which is important for businesses aiming locally.

Step 4: Build quality back links: Send out a press release to local sites that are in the process of trying to get links listed in their news or announcement sections. Quality back links from sites related by the sector of location will help to increase your page rankings and will eventually drive more traffic to the site as a result of the links themselves.

These four steps certainly don't make up a whole internet marketing course, but they should be enough to get you started. Following them will be a good step in the right direction of raising your page rank in the search engine listings.
