Live With A Sense Purpose: Find Your Passion

By:

Most people settle for living day-to-day, working a job that can keep them alive, just as long as they have something to do. Some spend their lives in the company of allies in advocacy campaigns that promote their common beliefs.

Rarely do you find someone who can sit in front of a piano alone, with joy and gratitude for having the opportunity to realize a personal calling. People like that have truly found a sense of purpose that is transcendent.

If you want to experience the same contentment and peace brought about by a solid sense of purpose, take a look at the following tips:

1.Go with your gut instinct. Find your passion in your instincts. Start listening to that little voice in your head and that sensation in your gut. Intuition is never perfect, but it is indicative of what we want and what we are capable of doing to achieve our goals. When someone presents you with an idea and you get a natural high just from listening to it, thats your clue that youre on the right track.

2.Tune out suggestions that are more of commands. Asking people for opinions and suggestions is vital to help you find your passion, but you will encounter individuals usually relatives along the way who will insist their suggestions are golden and youd be a fool not to listen to them. Who has never heard of an older relative insisting to a younger family member that he should take up this profession only because its tradition in the family to produce a doctor/lawyer/engineer per generation? There are many families who live by tradition and prestige, but you should not let their ideals determine what your personal calling should be.

3.What excites you to give it a try even at the risk of failing repeatedly? You may find your passion in the things you dare to try, regardless of the sacrifices involved. So think hard about what you would be willing to go out on a limb for. It could be putting up a business even in this shaky economic climate. Or it could involve you to finally show up at auditions and keep trying for every single role until you make it in Hollywood. If youre willing to give one hundred of percent of yourself into an endeavor, then youve found your personal calling.

4.Join clubs. You need to surround yourself with like-minded people who share your concept of a personal calling. Find your passion in communities both real and online and start chatting with people who share your interests. Those might be the very individuals who can help you narrow down your interests into a clear cut goal. Ask questions on how they got started, what theyre doing to hone their skills and what prospects there are for your chosen vocation. Get as much information as you can so you can map out an action plan for yourself.

5.Take online quizzes. There are countless websites featuring online quizzes to help you find your passion. They ran the gamut from career assessment tests to personality tests. Dont just settle for one. Have fun taking a myriad of tests and gather the results. Look for the common denominators in them; they are indicative of not just your talents but also of what you really want to accomplish. If you end up with two or three strong points, then reflect on each interest until you realize which among them appeals to you the most.

There are only three things in this world that give people a sense of purpose: when they have something to be passionate about; when they have something they can believe in; or when they have something to do. It is not important whether your personal calling will make you a millionaire or not. What matters is that you find your passion, something that can keep you at peace despite the chaos around you.
