Lindamood-Bell Chosen to Turn Around Low-Performing Colorado Schools

Denver, COThe Colorado Department of Education (CDE) has approved Lindamood-Bell Learning Processes as a School Turnaround Provider. Lindamood-Bell School Partnerships include state-of-the-art professional development that prepares teachers to effectively teach reading, spelling and comprehension. As a Turnaround Provider, Lindamood-Bell is poised to assist the CDE and the state's persistently low performing schools to dramatically improve academic performance. Implementation of this initiative will be made possible through grants from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).

Colorado Commissioner of Education, Dwight D. Jones explained, The department is committed to partnering with schools and districts in the development of comprehensive turnaround plans and to assist in the effort to improve student achievement for all. This is urgent work. The CDE selection process identified the most rigorous interventions that hold the promise of rapid improvement for student achievement.

Lindamood-Bell has demonstrated expertise and past success in partnering with schools and districts to increase academic performance. In districts in Colorado and throughout the United States, Lindamood-Bell has implemented its model of high quality instruction, rigorous professional development in all areas of language and learning, and systemic program monitoring and evaluation that ensures that student academic performance is improved and sustained on a large scale.
