Lies, Life And Us

Lies, Life and US
We live in a world of lies, well that just isn"t true, because there are some truths and some honest people. I think it was Diogenes who wandered around Greece searching for an honest man. I don"t know if he found one. I have found a few. However, it is getting very difficult to determine what or who to believe and that may be THE Problem/challenge of our society. Are we becoming numb to lies?

All if this is about conditioning. If we are lied to frequently, with consistency and about a broad array of topics, we are more easily lied to and accept those lies without question. It is becoming increasingly more difficult to recognize or care about lies, what is real, what is not, who tells the truth and who is lying. I believe, the straight forward truth and honesty are things of beauty and wonder. And, they are becoming more rare.

Some lies just don"t make a lot of difference, may tend to be somewhat pleasant and one of those lies is having one"s body augmented to change physical appearance. Changing physical appearance for more than medical reasons, is a lie that modifies expectations of how people should look. It is just another lie that causes further conditioning to other lies. What is seen that is real and can we believe what we see? There are many of these lies that cover a very large range of subject matter.

And, there are bigger lies, dangerous lies and common lies. What comes to your mind, when you think of a politician? Do you picture or think of an individual who is working tirelessly for the betterment of US, our nation, or mankind, or do you picture an individual who will say, promise and do "anything" to be elected? Do you believe what you are being told by a national level political candidate, during an election campaign, or do you expect them to lie? Now, we are getting into the area of dangerous lies that can cost lives and very large amounts of money. The major political dilemma here is that someone will be elected, so decisions are made between candidates that we expect not to tell the truth or will not work in our best interest. One example of this is, in a recent bit of federal legislation, all ten of our(?) richest representatives and senators voted for keeping tax breaks for the rich (find out much more about this in the latest issues of "Mother Jones" magazine, a must read). Another example of very, large important lies, Weapons Of Mass Destruction and this lie is costing our nation, US, very dearly in lives and money.

Lies that involve profits (money), power (control) or massive Egos are the most dangerous and we expect them or at least allow them to exist. In the early 70s (about 30 years ago), there was a fuel shortage and many, including politicians, were telling US that we were running out of oil and the cost of fuel will increase. The price increased and, as if my magic, there was plenty of fuel.

Weapons Of Mass Destruction is a large dangerous lie that is dwarfed by the for profit and power medical lies. Heart/cardiovascular disease, Diabetes, Depression, ADD, ADHD and more maladies are profitable and fueled by lies. One of the largest medical lies is Thalidomide, invented by Hitler"s cronies in the later part of WWII, re-discovered and widely used in the 50s and early 60s, causing at least 10,000 babies to be borne with profound birth defects and once again re-discovered and re-introduced a few years ago. Thalidomide is being studied, is prescribed for a wide range of maladies and they still don"t know how it works. The medical has a lot of articles on the net backing Thalidomide. Wording like we should not be denied this important(?) medication because of a screw-up many years ago and the Thalidomide babies have adjusted to their birth defects (do you think that may be callous?). The pharmaceutical company that re-introduced Thalidomide has made record profits and the FDA, our(?) government has approved.

The lies go on because we allow and expect them. Start questioning, and expect/demand to be told the truth. RSBBrown Robert Brown 4/13/2011
